Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager Version 7.0 Enters General Release

April 29, 2009, North Andover, MA, USA – SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) developer Aries Systems Corporation (North Andover Massachusetts, USA) is pleased to announce the general release of Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager Version 7.0.

Workflow solutions from Aries Systems are used by 3,200+ scholarly publications to process more than a million scholarly manuscripts, abstracts and book chapters each year. Key features of the new release include:

  • Issue-Based Workflows.. The new version of Preprint Manager enhances the ability of journals to transact issue workflows in tandem with individual manuscript processing. For example, all the manuscripts in a particular issue can be assigned to a vendor with responsibility for a task such as composition or printing. Files such as “cover art” or “front matter” can also be uploaded and processed independently of manuscripts.
  • Solicited Manuscript Enhancements.Solicited manuscript functionality enables journals to publish proprietary content that is not subject to open access deposit mandates. The enhanced ability to select, identify and manage solicited manuscripts in Editorial Manager Version 7.0 therefore assists publishers to proactively adapt to the changing publishing environment.
  • Single Sign-On.Version 7.0 journals can configure a single sign-on capability for editors that collaborate on a group of journals.

Lyndon Holmes, President of Aries Systems, commented: “Aries continues to offer editorial and production workflow solutions that are comprehensive, integrated and configurable. Version 7.0 is yet another step in providing our customers with the best integrated workflow automation available today. Our aggressive technology development program assures that our business partners will be well-equipped to adapt to the rapid changes now occurring in scholarly publishing.”

Publishers wishing to know more about these and the many other innovations in Version 7.0 are invited to contact Aries to schedule a demonstration, participate in Webinars or attend the User Group Meeting (June 18th & 19th in Cambridge, MA).
