Did you know? You now have more customization options on Reviewer Forms

Question-markReviewer Forms are configurable by article type and revision, and also for various Reviewer roles that a publication may use.

Version 8.1 introduced enhanced ability to customize manuscript evaluation forms on which Reviewers enter their ratings and comments. This allows for more flexibility in gathering information. Some new features follow.

In configuring the Review Questions, you may select from a wide range of response types: Text, Date, Integer, Decimal, List, Yes/No, Yes/No/NA. A Yes/No response type includes the option to automatically request a text response based on the Yes/No answer input by the Reviewer. A List response type can also be utilized with the option of a drop-down list, radio buttons, checkboxes, or a scrollable selector box.

Participate in the Editorial Manager and Preprint Manager 8.2 beta program

pen-checkmarkEditorial Manager (EM) and Preprint Manager (PM) 8.2 are now in beta, and we need a few additional beta test volunteers. Beta testing is a great way to preview new features and enhancements in the 8.2 release, such as: enhanced automated Author and Editor reminders, customized PDF cover pages, and the ability to attach external files and files from “file inventory” to ad hoc emails. As a beta tester you’ll see first-hand how these features will work on your EM or PM site, without impacting your live data. And your feedback will help us perfect the product for final release.

But hurry: The EM/PM 8.2 beta test period will last for a few more weeks. For more information or to volunteer, email Betsy Hopkins, Aries Business Systems Analyst, at bhopkins@ariessys.com.

New video illuminates Enterprise Analytics Reporting

EAR-PieChartEnterprise Analytics Reporting (EAR), the web-based reporting tool within the Editorial Manager system. Originally created for the recent Aries User Group Meeting where customers found it to be highly informative, this presentation examines how to work with EAR, as well as the new features added in the 8.1 version release.

EAR automates the aggregation and formatting of data for real-time information about a journal’s publishing workflow that is invaluable for analyzing the processes, gaining insight, and decision-making.

Psychological Medicine goes live with Editorial Manager

Psychological MedicineCambridge University Press journal, Psychological Medicine, required an electronic submission and peer-review system capable of supporting a high volume of traffic and two separate editorial offices. With the UK and US editorial offices being responsible for specific geographic regions and review of certain specific sub-disciplines, and the Editors having preferred established systems of work in place, the system had to be highly configurable.

Editorial Manager was chosen for its flexible workflow solutions and project management, and Aries and Cambridge University Press worked together to make sure the system is configured to meet the needs of the editorial team and the authors submitting to the journal. The primary reason for moving to electronic submission and review was a rapidly increasing submission rate and the need to create an efficient updated editorial system for peer review. The system will offer authors the best possible service, keep them informed of progress throughout the review process, and offer new features as Aries continues to develop Editorial Manager.

Psychological Medicine publishes accepted articles online immediately upon readiness for publication and articles are collected into twelve issues a year. The journal features original articles reporting key research being undertaken worldwide, reviews and invited editorials by distinguished scholars.

The Endocrine Society to launch four Editorial Manager sites

EndocrineSociety_logoFounded in 1916, The Endocrine Society is the world’s oldest, largest, and most active organization devoted to research on hormones and the clinical practice of endocrinology. Its peer-reviewed journals lead the field in providing in-depth information on cutting-edge issues in endocrinology.

The Endocrine Society is in the process of establishing Editorial Manager sites as the electronic workflow solution for the following journals: Endocrinology,Endocrine Reviews, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, and Molecular Endocrinology.

The innovative features comprising EM’s frequent releases appealed to the society with its compressed publishing lead times, and its processes such as REP (Rapid Electronic Publication), which makes research papers accessible to subscribers weeks prior to print and online journal publication.
