Here’s how it looks in the XML:

This lets the production team know that the listed ORCID has been verified by the author through the EM API with the ORCID database. It’s just another way to ensure high quality data in EM workflows.

And the Award Goes to…Tony Alves!

CSE-TonyAlvesCongratulations to Tony Alves, Aries Systems Director of Product Management, for receiving a “Certificate of Appreciation” from the Council of Science Editors (CSE) at its annual May meeting.

Tony received the award in recognition of his leadership role on a “Marketing Task Force,” charged with developing a marketing strategy for CSE. Tony describes the marketing initiative in an article that will appear in an upcoming issue of Science Editor.

Open Access White Paper Now Available Online

WhitePaper-OpenAccessAries Systems, the Diamond sponsor of this year’s SSP Annual Meeting held last month in Boston, provided SSP attendees with free copies of a thought-provoking white paper entitled, “Workflow Implications of Open Access Publishing.”

The paper, prepared by Simon Inger Consulting, delves into the Open Access world where the author is king and publishers have to change the way they work to better suit the author’s needs in order to gain a competitive advantage.

The Department of Veteran Affairs Chooses Editorial Manager for Peer Review

ESP-VA-logosThe Department of Veterans Affairs, Health Services Research & Development, has selected Editorial Manager to manage the peer review process for the VA’s Evidence-based Synthesis Program (ESP).  The ESP Coordinating Center chose Editorial Manager for its ease of configuration and flexibility for their changing needs.  “We have experience using other software but decided that Editorial Manager offered more flexibility in configuring the software,” said Nicole Floyd, MPH, Program Manager. “We have more control with EM and do not have to rely on a vendor to make all the changes to the system.”

Become a Version 11.1 Beta Test Journal

v11.1Editorial Manager (EM) and ProduXion Manage (PM) Version 11.1 are now in Beta testing and we are seeking additional Beta test volunteers.

EM v11.1 is packed with new features and enhancements that will further empower Aries customers, including: open peer review workflow options, APC processing using Copyright Clearance Center’s RightsLink for Open Access, journal-defined merge fields, single sign-on using ORCID, and much more.

The 2014 Editorial Manager User Group (EMUG) meeting celebrated its largest turnout ever! EMUG’s growing popularity is a direct reflection of the increased adoption of Editorial Manager (EM) and ProduXion Manager (PM) within the industry, as well as Aries’ commitment to ongoing development of both EM and PM.

One attendee had this to say, “I always love seeing the sneak previews of upcoming release functionality and the wish list session. It is great to hear from other users!”

The venue will feature a dinner reception on the rooftop terrace with captivating views of Boston and beyond!

The meeting provides an opportunity to learn about recent workflow innovations and to interact with Aries staff and industry colleagues.  More than 100 industry colleagues have registered for the event, which includes light breakfasts and lunches, the reception and dinner, customer case studies, and feature workshops.
