Delivering Lasting Value: Why Choose Editorial Manager?

For over 35 years, Aries Systems has believed in the power of information and connectivity, and that bringing these together through best-in-class technology is what drives us forward. Our mission is to help disseminate knowledge on a global scale through our innovative workflow management solutions. Editorial Manager® (EM) is the leading manuscript submission and peer review tracking system for scholarly journals, reference works, books, and other publications. Trusted by thousands of publications across hundreds of multinational publishers, societies, and other organizations – EM is purposefully designed to help content creators to publish faster and publish smarter.

Built to streamline editorial processes, communications, and management of files – Editorial Manager seamlessly connects with downstream production systems to provide a comprehensive workflow solution beyond peer review. Publishers can achieve a true end-to-end publishing experience by pairing Editorial Manager with ProduXion Manager® (PM). But what sets Editorial Manager and ProduXion Manager apart from the crowd? Aries’ commitment to delivering lasting value to our user community through the following areas:

Flexible Workflows

Every journal is unique, with their own set of standards, practices, and policies. To best accommodate the diverse needs of our client community, EM and PM are purpose-built to be flexible for a near-custom experience. The robust configuration settings within EM/PM empower thousands of publications to independently customize their workflows to suit at any time – with no waiting period and no additional activation costs. These options provide limitless possibilities – enabling opportunities to adopt different business models, automate workflows with cascading tasks based on event triggers, set content types and file restrictions, and so much more! Forms, instructions, and letters can be modified, and journals can configure dedicated user roles with levels of responsibilities and access. System Administrator controls can be granted to any number of journal staff members. Additional levels of flexibility – such as language options and cross-publication functions – are available at an additional charge.

Ecosystem of Tools

Editorial offices face many challenges including an increase in submission volume, securing qualified Reviewers, making data more accessible, implementing various business models, ensuring quality and integrity, maximizing impact of published works, and more. To address these pain points, Aries Systems has created a diverse ecosystem of in-house innovations and partner integrations to seamlessly connect EM/PM users with best-in-class technologies directly within their existing workflows. This centralized network allows publishers to solve various workflow/quality gaps and take on new initiatives without the additional investment of building their own tools or vetting industry options independently. The Aries ecosystem is continually expanding through strategic collaborations to meet the needs of the EM/PM user community and the ever-evolving scholarly publishing landscape.

Advanced Analytics

Leveraging analytics can have a huge impact on publishers and their bottom line including optimized operations, increased revenue, reduced costs, improved quality of published works, enhanced experience for stakeholders, and greater competitive advantage. Equipped with a robust Enterprise Analytics Reporting (EAR) suite, EM and PM provide publishers with visibility into key data and metrics for performance tracking and informed decision-making. In addition to a built-in menu of standard “ready-made” reports that run with a single click, publishers can create custom reports across multiple data sources within EAR. Reports can be exported or configured to be scheduled for regular delivery, saving time and automating analysis. Cross-publication reporting (XEAR) can be enabled for publishers under the same Unified Database (UDB) at an additional cost. Furthermore, journals can track EM/PM user behavior and their site journey insights via external services such as Google Analytics.
