Aries Systems Convenes Industry Advisory Board to Ensure Transparency and Best Practices
Aries Systems has created and convened an advisory board following the acquisition of Aries by Elsevier in September 2018. The board, named the Aries Industry Advisory Board (AIAB), has already begun providing guidance on best policies, practices, and procedures regarding information security and privacy.
The inaugural meeting of the AIAB took place on December 7, 2018 in London, UK. Aries Systems hosted representatives from numerous organizations: American Chemical Society, Brill, Cell Press, De Gruyter Poland, IEEE, John Wiley & Sons, PLOS, SSRN, Renew Publishing Consultants, Taylor & Francis, Thieme, University of Chicago Press, Wolters Kluwer, and World Scientific.
“The Advisory Board is a mix of customers and industry representatives to reflect the many perspectives of the scholarly publishing industry. Aries and AIAB are working closely with a number of industry consultants and third-party auditors to ensure that Aries and Elsevier are operating in the interests of all of our customers,” said Jennifer Fleet, Chief Operating Officer of Aries Systems Corporation.
During the December 7 meeting of the board, the group discussed data security protocols, including the Data Security and Protection Audit commissioned by Aries. The board further addressed key industry topics and explored solutions for common challenges publishers face in an involving publishing landscape.
The next Aries Industry Advisory Board meeting will take place on June 7, 2019 in Boston, MA. Rotating U.S. and European meetings will continue to be held bi-annually. To learn more about the AIAB, visit: www.ariessys.com/aries-industry-advisory-board/.
